SUMMARY (Basic purpose or primary function of job) The Senior
Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability,
security, and scalability of the Arthritis Foundation’s technology
infrastructure. This role oversees the management, configuration,
and ongoing reliability of computing systems while partnering
closely with managed service providers, vendors, and cloud-based
SaaS and IaaS platforms. This position plays a proactive role in
maximizing system uptime, minimizing disruptions, and continuously
improving infrastructure performance. Responsibilities include
hardware and software implementation, systems configuration,
process documentation, technical research, and the deployment of
tools that advance the Foundation’s business and mission needs. The
ideal candidate brings deep experience in cloud platforms,
networking, virtualization, systems administration, and emerging
technologies, including AI-driven tools. You will also serve as a
trusted technical advisor to the VP of IT. This role contributes to
technical strategy, communicates project status with transparency,
and helps guide infrastructure decisions that support long-term
organizational growth. The successful Senior Infrastructure
Engineer is a highly adaptable, self-directed professional who
thrives in a dynamic environment, manages multiple priorities
effectively, and resolves complex technical challenges with urgency
and independence. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES ( Principal responsibilities
or job duties) Manages network accounts, user privileges, and
performance of all mission-critical systems, including onboarding
and offboarding of arriving or departing staff. Responsible for
routine administration and assuring reliable operation of the
following mission-critical systems. This includes but is not
limited to the following: Microsoft Azure Microsoft 365 Microsoft
Office 365 SharePoint Peer-to-peer fundraising systems (e.g., Donor
Drive, mobile apps) Monitor trouble tickets and resolve system
problems by running diagnostics, documenting problems, resolutions,
and assessing the impact of issues. Participate as a team member in
planning and implementing new or upgrades of mission-critical
systems. Perform regular backup operations and participate as a key
resource in data protection and disaster recovery activities.
Design, deploy, and manage application platforms, servers,
networks, and cloud-based infrastructure. Monitor system
performance and ensure high availability and reliability. Implement
and maintain security protocols and disaster recovery plans.
Collaborate with vendors, managed-services-providers, Web and
DevOps, Data and CRM teams, and act as an escalation point for IT
support team members. Automate infrastructure tasks using scripting
and configuration management tools. Maintain documentation for
systems, processes, and procedures. Troubleshoot and resolve
infrastructure-related issues. Stay current with emerging
technologies and recommend improvements. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE &
EDUCATION Knowledge of implementing and effectively developing IT
best practices, including knowledge of security, storage, data
protection, and disaster recovery protocols. Minimum 5 years of
network administration or system administration experience. System
administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other
network platforms are a plus. Experience with scripting and
automation tools is desired. Proficient experience in resolving
problems within the Microsoft Office 365 productivity suite.
Proficient experience in resolving problems in the Microsoft
Windows 365 operating platform. Proficient experience managing
Azure resource groups, subscriptions, networking, and virtual
machines. Proficient experience with Entra ID, Active Directory,
Role-Based Access, and implementing MFA/SSO. Working knowledge of
server virtualization, VMWare. Strong knowledge of systems and
networking configuration, hardware, and networking protocols
Experience implementing best practices, including advanced
knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster
recovery. Provision VPN Tunnels Troubleshoot issues with VPN
tunnels, understand IKE/IPSEC phases Knowledge of Structured
Cabling Set up ISP Devices in bridge mode. Manage Network devices
via web or serial interfaces. Knowledge of working with security
appliances, preferably WatchGuard Understanding of security zones:
Trusted/Internal, DMZ, External/Untrusted Understanding of how
traffic is translated for outbound communication and how to apply
custom NAT policies to assign outbound traffic to specific public
IP addresses. Provision of WAN or Multi-WAN links on security
appliances. Configuring NAT policies for inbound services. Manage
and configure Web Content Filtering based on content categories and
specific URL exclusions. Provision of SMTP services for internal
email servers. Remote Systems Management Client to Site VPN
solutions (IPSEC, SSL, PPTP) Wi-Fi deployment Extensive Knowledge
