Job Title: Specialist IV/V/VI, Information Technology (AV Systems Engineer)

Salary Range: $45,100 - $99,600

Status: Full-Time

Job Summary:

As a team member of the Campus Audio Video Systems Group, the successful candidate will be responsible for first and second-tier support in Classrooms, Conference Rooms, and other AV systems across campus. The position will receive support from installation and design teams with issues requiring advanced support. This position may supervise a group of students responsible for first-tier support. The candidate should have a working knowledge of AV systems and a proven track-record demonstrating troubleshooting ability. This position will also support the new project design and installation as needed.

Essential Functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

1. Supervises a group of students responsible for first-tier support.2. Customer Service approach that requires interfacing with Professors and Instructors while helping them with technical issues.3. Creating instructional documentation and conducting end-user training.4. Interfacing with manufacturers on equipment issues, repairs, and returns.5. Oversees preventative maintenance procedures with proactively scheduled classroom check-ups.6. Digital Signage distribution and customer support.7. Cable TV distribution throughout campus buildings and end-user support.8. Making schedules, maintaining spare parts inventory (batteries and lamps), and keeping track of loaner inventory.

Candidate should have familiarity with general IP networking concepts, network-based and digital video systems, digital audio systems and control systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry into the applicant pool as a Specialist IV will require a High School diploma or equivalent and five (5) or more years of relevant experience in complex audio video systems set up and repair and/or complex networking configuration and operation. Advanced degrees may be considered in lieu of some work experience. This position will require practical knowledge of electronic shop methods, procedures, and tools as well as current audio/visual, computer and networking technologies. The successful candidate will be a highly self-motivated person who is capable of performing with limited supervision and possesses exceptional creativity, communication, and interpersonal skills. Candidate must be capable of working on ladders/scaffolding, and comfortable operating power tools.

Typical salaries for Specialist IV are between $55K and $65K.

The Specialist V position requires a Bachelor's degree and four (4) or more years of relevant experience as indicated. Starting salaries are typically between $64K and $75K.

Level VI requires a Bachelor's degree and seven (7) or more years of experience. Starting salaries are typically between $73K and $86K.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Engineering or Sciences. Certifications from Avixa, CompTIA, and/or BICSI. Experience with AMX, Extron, Biamp software/configurations, and streaming video technologies. Knowledge and experience with digital signage and Cable TV systems. Ability to lift 75 pounds.
