Location: Columbus Job type: Permanent Sector: Flight Crew Category: Supervisors Position Summary The Manufacturing Supervisor is accountable for the day-to-day performance of manufacturing technicians in a team environment to support the production targets of the company. The incumbents coordinate with all levels of management to identify and implement corrective actions as appropriate; support, and document work processes to provide technicians with the proper tools necessary to perform their jobs. Position reports to the Operations Manager. Primary Requirements: - Responsible for operations cost, delivery and quality - Oversees department lead activities and revises work assignments to meet schedules and contract priorities - Coordinates activities and provides technical direction to employees assigned to the area - Interprets and enforces regulations relating to safety, attendance, conduct, and other plant work rules - Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to employees, and assigns duties - Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production or processing schedules - Measures team on development, performance and productivity issues - Records time and tracks labor work orders for discrepancies and makes adjustments where required - Work with HR to manage work performance, including PMP, providing background and documentation - Reviews production forecast for efficient management of resources - Work with Ops Manager for changes that increase efficiency of shop, department or work crew - Receives and answers questions from employees pertaining to area processes or equipment operation - Analyzes and resolves work problems; assists employees in solving work problems - Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals - Works with Facilities and Engineering to maximize machine and equipment capacity for unit - Train employees on equipment operation, work processes, and safety procedures Minimum Requirements: - High School diploma, or GED and two years post-high school education, (technical institutes, junior college equivalence - Six to 12 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably aerospace or composite manufacturing - Effectively communicate clear performance feedback to staff (individual and group settings) - Plans shop activities and ensure achievement of goals - Develops and maintains work standards, processes, and procedures (individual and group settings) - Proven track record in meeting schedule and cost objectives for part/tool fabrications and assembly - Proven ability to reduce cost of poor quality (scrap, re-fabrication and rework) and set up new manufacturing processes - Conduct employee training in specifications and procedures, specifically the composite technician qualification process - Must be U. S. Person Desired Requirements: Effective collaboration across work site that promotes drive for results and meeting production targets. - Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources) - Understanding of industry standard equipment and technical expertise - In dept knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes - Computer literacy with the ability to generate relative manufacturing reports - Ability to create accountability and to lead by example - Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills Physial Requirements: Able to lift and transport objects up to 40 pounds as well as consistently stoop, crawl, bend, crouch, climb and kneel Shift Requirements: Day shift; swing shift as required by the business.
