Summary:The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration of the employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, COBRA, 401(k) retirement plan, and Leave of Absence management in compliance company policies, and state/federal requirements. Support employees across multiple states. Serve as subject matter expert regarding benefits, attendance and leave policies and process, job accommodations.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Coordinate benefits activities. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, life claims, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships, and rollovers. - Research, recommend, change and implement benefits programs. Identify those that present the best value. Examine plan designs and benefits cost changes. - Manage and administer attendance and leave of absences programs. - Coordinate the leave process; apply concepts and rules as mandated by guidelines for FMLA and other federally or state mandated or company specific leaves. - Utilizes HRIS system [ADP] to track leave data, employee absences, and generate reports. - Document all aspects of interaction with the employee, local HR Representative, and management in the system of record to ensure proper reporting, review, compliance and audit. - Analyze essential job functions as compared to restrictions; develop recommendations for HR and management regarding on-the-job accommodations; collaborate with local HR and management regarding reaching a final determination to grant or deny an accommodation. - Review and analyze employee documentation and engage in interactive process regarding return-to-work restrictions. This includes analyzing essential job functions as compared to restrictions, developing recommendations for HR and management regarding return-to-work (RTW) accommodations, and determining final decision whether to grant or deny accommodation. - Maintain knowledge of applicable benefit, leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, HIPPA, COBRA, ERISA, etc. and state and local laws. - Enter data, run reports, analyze information as it relates to benefits, attendance, leaves, and other employment categories utilizing Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SAP, ADP, and other various employer/vendor/carrier websites and sources.
Education / Experience: - Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience. - 3+ years of experience in Human Resources, with a proven focus on employee benefits and various leaves programs. - Strong working knowledge and understanding of employment law, including FMLA, ADA, USERRA, COBRA, HIPPA, OSHA, ERISA - Experience with ADP and SAP (preferred). - High proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. - Human Resources experience in Manufacturing is helpful, but not required.
