THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE YOU TO BE ONSITE DURING WORK HOURS!

JOB PURPOSE:

Serves as front line support for the Patient Access Department within Piedmont Healthcare. Ensures patient accounts are complete with valid insurance coverage and current demographic/clinical data. Calculates patient financial responsibility, presents patient financial options/requirements and processes patient payments. Secures patient consent and acknowledgement on required forms/notices.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

High School graduate or GED equivalent

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

One (1) year exp in one of the following:

  1. Healthcare Revenue Cycle

  2. Clinical role

  3. Related clerical accounting/finance/retail.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

N/A

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Three (3) years of healthcare Revenue Cycle experience preferred. Certification with Healthcare Financial Management Association, or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative preferred. Prior Epic experience preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs registration, arrival, and check-in functions upon a patient presenting for service.

  2. Collects/Verifies demographic, clinical and insurance information/documentation.

  3. Confirms eligibility and benefits for unscheduled/walk-in or emergency department patients.

  4. Calculates and determines financial responsibility for patients including deductibles, co-payments, and amounts covered for requested services.

  5. Process cashiering functions and refer patients to Financial Counseling where appropriate.

  6. Presents consent forms and notifications to patients and obtains all necessary patient signatures and information at time of arrival.

  7. Responsible for reviewing hospital outpatient service orders for accuracy and medical necessity when required.

  8. Enters all data elements pertaining to the requested services in Revenue Cycle systems.

  9. Ensure that all activities related to collection activities meet Piedmont Healthcare and State/Federal Requirements/expectations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and make out-going phone calls.

Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

Ability to work as a member of a team.

Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications.

Skill and ability to work effectively in EPIC.

Familiar with medical terminology ICD-10 and CPT codes.

Strong math and benefit knowledge of payers with ability to calculate financial responsibility ability to calculate financial responsibility.
