Health to find a qualified Med/Surg / Tele RN in Macon, Georgia,
31201! Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty:
MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours
per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years Med/Tele RN experience
required License: Current RN license required Certifications: BLS
required; ACLS preferred; EKG competency exam required during
onboarding; Certification in MedSurg is a plus Must-Have: MUST BE
PROFICIENT IN CARDIAC DRIPS Description: RN position in
MedSurg/Telemetry. Facility has 637 licensed beds and Level 1
Trauma Designation. Teaching hospital with Chest Pain Center and
Stroke Center designations. Each MedSurg unit has 20-36 beds.
Patient types include MedSurg and Telemetry for all inpatient
MedSurg units. Patient ratios are RN 1:4-6, LPN 1:4-6, and CNA up
to 1:14. Required skills include trach care, chest tube management,
PIV starts, and glucometer checks. Common drips include insulin
drips, heparin drips, and drips to titrate to heart rate, not blood
pressure. The department provides support through CNAs, unit
secretaries, and charge nurses. CNA tasks include assisting with
vitals, blood glucose checks, baths, bed changes, and patient
safety. Most units have lab collect phlebotomy, and RNs draw off of
central venous lines. There is no dedicated IV team, but there is a
PICC team available. Resource nurses, discharge nurses,
hospitalists, intensivists, and telemetry monitoring techs are
present 24/7. The department uses EMR, IV pumps, medication
dispensing systems, and unit-specific equipment for monitoring.
Travelers are utilized in a float pool capacity and may be required
to float to all Med/Tele units as needed. Unit culture is busy and
team-oriented. Candidate must possess proficiency in cardiac drips.
