Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Macon, Georgia, 31201! Job
Title: RN - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive
Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per
Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years PCU RN experience required License:
Required License Certifications: NIHSS, BLS, ACLS certification
required; CCRN preferred but not required; BCR competency required
Must-Have: Trach care Chest tube management PIV starts Knowledge of
glucommander Insulin drips Heparin drips Monitoring and management
of invasive lines, including arterial lines and central venous
lines Supervision of telemetry monitoring Description: The RN will
work in a Progressive Care Unit with a focus on step-down ICU
patients. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, renal
failure, sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, hypotension, hypertension, stroke,
pneumonia, cancer, ARDS, and overdoses. The nurse will manage
patient care for chronic home ventilators with static vent
settings. Patient ratios are RN: 1:3-4, with CNA support available.
CNA duties include assisting with vital signs, glucose checks,
bathing, feeding, ambulating, turning patients, and transporting
patients. Unit support includes a unit secretary on duty during
specific hours and phlebotomy services primarily from blood
collection staff. The RN will be responsible for assisting in a
variety of bedside procedures including chest tube placement and
tracheostomy. The hospital has respiratory therapy and hospitalist
services available 24/7. There is central telemetry monitoring in
place along with the use of an electronic medical record system.
Nurses will work one shift on each major holiday and will
participate in weekend rotation as required. The unit culture
