Cardiovascular Technologist Location: Hiram, GA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,040 per week Shift Information: Days - 4 days x 10 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Cardiovascular Technologist I Profession: CVT Tech Specialty: Procedural Assistant Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Various Hours per Shift: 10 Hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year relevant experience in a medical setting preferred; CVT experience in Cath Lab required License: Current License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS; Registered CVI Specialist preferred Must-Have: Minimum one year of Cath Lab experience; EP and Peripheral experience preferred but not required Description: The Cardiovascular Technologist I is a professional training to assist during diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiovascular procedures. He/she will train to assist the physician during the procedures and operate specialized equipment safely and efficiently. The Cardiovascular Technologist I is responsible for maintaining sterile technique during procedures. This position involves assisting in the maintenance of a safe and efficient environment. Mainly working with adults aged eighteen to sixty-five and geriatric patients over the age of sixty-five. Participates in call rotation once appropriately oriented and checked off on clinical and operational competencies. Core Responsibilities: Will train to assist the physician in performing facility-specific cardiovascular cath and EP procedures. Will train to function in monitoring, scrubbing, or circulating roles. Must demonstrate critical thinking skills. Will work in conjunction with interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and cardiologists. Will learn to prep and educate the patient for procedures. Demonstrates and understands sterile technique. Quality and Patient Safety: Verifies patient ID using two patient identifiers. Verifies the front of the patient chart for same/similar name stickers. Verifies written orders and consent, seeking clarification when unclear. Uses and understands preprocedural verification/time-out forms. Understands and complies with site/side marking when indicated. Job Responsibilities: Must be flexible with hours to meet departmental needs. Able to work scheduled and on-call hours. Knows existing lines of communication and authority and handles communications properly. Introduces self to patient and/or guardian using proper scripting. Transports patients as needed. Provides privacy and comfort for patients/customers. Assists with departmental records, regulations, and performance improvement. Learns how to enter data into the log and verify accuracy and completeness. Completes necessary paperwork. Answers departmental phones using proper scripting. Maintains stock levels and monitors expiration dates. Maintains current License and BLS/ACLS certifications. Works as part of the team with other lab staff to achieve optimal outcomes. Performs any other duties as needed. Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for procedures. Patient Education: Will train to provide patient and family education. Will learn how to provide education related to their procedure. Will train to provide post-procedural home care instructions as needed. Required Minimum Education: GED or Associate's Degree in Health Science required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. One year of relevant experience in a medical setting may substitute for formal education. Graduate of CVT program preferred. Required Minimum Skills: Basic knowledge of cardiovascular cath or electrophysiology procedures. Understanding of patient positioning, exposure factors, and radiation protection. Basic knowledge of electrocardiography, coronary heart disease, cardiac anatomy, and physiology preferred with EKG interpretation. Understanding of hemodynamics, intracardiac electrograms, and electrophysiology equipment. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients, and physicians. Must communicate and understand verbal and written English and display a positive attitude.
