Supervises all functions including procedures, quality control,
quality assurance, maintenance and overseesthe entire function of
the assigned laboratory department. Assists with scheduling, the
ordering of supplies,and company inventory. Responsible for
ensuring assigned lab department is current with all State
andFederal regulations and standards. Ensures effectiveness and
efficiency of section. Creates a positive workenvironment. Under
the general direction of the laboratory director and in conjunction
with the chief ofpathology, is responsible for coordinating the
daily operation and the activities of the staff of the
histology,surgical pathology, and cytology. As a working
supervisor, performs a variety of procedures in the section.
Asauthorized by the Medical Director of the Laboratory, this
position is designated to perform the annual reviewof procedure
manuals and monthly review of quality control, maintenance and
function checks, and mayassess the competency of high complexity
testing personnel. Collaborates with Environment of Care
SafetyCommittee, responsible for safety processes and procedures in
the laboratory area (chemical inventory,biohazard management,
etc.)

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the
ability to work with minimal supervision. Must beable to work in a
stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications: Required - HT(ASCP), HT(NCA), or equivalent
registry and meets CMS and GDHR requirements.
Minimum Work Experience
Knowledge of laboratory services operation, LIS, and familiarity
with regulatory and accrediting agencystandards required.
minimum 5 years as histology technician experience and 2 years of
supervisor experience in the Lab
Minimum Education
Associate's Degree in Biology or relevant science or
Equivalent educational/technical training and technical experience
as a histology technician
Bachelor's Degree in Biology or relevant science X Preferred
