Job Title: Merchandise and Community Events Manager

Background: Ignite Sports and Entertainment is becoming a regional player in the sports and entertainment industry, and we are looking to expand our portfolio with additional talent to support our organization. Ignite Sports and Entertainment's goal is to create family friendly entertainment and allow our employees a place to shine, while gaining experience in a fast paced, fun industry.

Job Summary: The Merchandise and Community Events Manager will be tasked with overseeing and maintaining all day-to-day aspects of the team merchandise, inventory, the online store, and physical team store, while growing Ignite Sports and Entertainment in the local community through events. This will include the Columbus River Dragons Hockey, Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots Baseball teams, and events held at Columbus's Golden Park. This position requires a candidate that will take a hands-on approach to getting the job done.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain, grow, and execute all aspects of sales, branding and marketing of team and event merchandise for Ignite Sports and Entertainment brands, increasing revenue, distribution, and customer engagement aligned with our broader marketing and merchandising strategy
  • Supervise and oversee all aspects of the team merchandise through online and in-person sales in the office and souvenir stands at all times, including game nights and online store sales of merchandise and fulfillment
  • Responsible for general appearance of souvenir stands, stand staff, and any area selling merchandise
  • Track and prepare inventory and sales reports to be delivered to leadership for business reporting
  • Pull work orders daily for online sales and finalize all transactions, as well as fulfilling, packing, and shipping of all ordered items
  • Generate new ideas for products and designs for team and branded merchandise
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, creation, and promotion of community events to drive our brands throughout the local area
  • Develop an optimal event schedule and overarching calendar of all events, while prospecting new events and opportunities to appeal to our fan base and create new fans
  • Create promotions and competitions to ensure traffic at all events
  • Work with the communications team grow Ignite Sports and Entertainment's event and merchandising presence, on all relevant social media platforms and encourage audience engagement, along with direct email and telecommunications platforms, as well as text blasts to customers and fans
  • Engage with local community and business groups to seek out, promote and facilitate events
  • Regularly monitor and respond to any messages, inquiries, or comments that need attention through event and merchandising email accounts with professionalism and positivity
  • Attend and supervise in-person events, when and where needed, and create live content to drive engagement
  • Manage and organize all player and mascot appearances for events throughout the community
  • Set up and break down events, interact with the public, work across departments, and communicate effectively with all parties involved in the event planning and execution process
  • Contribute to all company aspects on an "as needed" basis

    Requirements:
    • Organizational, multitasking, and analytical skills are a necessity
    • Well-developed time management, organizational and follow-through skills
    • Innovative, with the ability to think on one's feet both creatively and critically
    • Must be personable and possesses superb communication skills
    • Proven work experience in sales and events or similar role is a plus
    • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to deliver creative content
    • Knowledge of online marketing strategies and marketing channels
    • Ability to gasp future trends and act proactively
    • Excellent interpersonal communication and time management skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign a plus
    • Candidate must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
    • Required to be able to lift up to 25 lbs
    • Applicant has to stand, walk, talk, listen, use hands, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and sit on occasions to execute the tasks of this position
    • Bachelor's degree in marketing, event planning, or relevant field Must maintain a flexible schedule as attendance on nights and weekends, and possibly holidays, based on the game schedule and events, is required
