Job Description:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the department. Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems to meet overall business objectives. Develops strategic human resource programs and practices that build motivation, innovation, and retention aspects that are aligned with corporate strategic initiatives.
Drives organizational development initiatives including performance management, talent management and leadership development, and succession planning throughout the company.
Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; and prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures. Communicates policies and procedures to employees through communication meetings, staff meetings, and one on one discussions with employees.
Assists in the creation and implementation of disability management, safety, health, and wellness programs to meet federal, state, and corporate guidelines with regards to safety and risk projects. Works with outside vendors and health care providers as necessary to develop programs.
Maintains statistics and data on safety related matters. Documents accident reports and participates in developing action plans to reduce/eliminate hazards in the workplace. Oversees the worker's compensation programs and participates in claims reviews.
Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost effectiveness, and employee communication plans.
Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, to include placing advertisements, screening applications, organizing interviews, and overseeing the selection process. Ensures background and drug screens are conducted and properly reviewed. Conducts new hire orientation.
Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings as needed. Maintains company organization charts.
Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 annually, maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
Maintains safety training records to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other safety related directives. Ensures training is conducted in a timely manner to maintain compliance with safety directives.
Addresses and resolves employee concerns by investigating issues discreetly, evaluating the situation and making recommendations as to the resolution of issues, providing advice, guidance and leadership.
Performs as the safety manager for the facility, developing policies, overseeing safety compliance training, compliance with OSHA regulations, and overall safety leadership.
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
An ideal candidate will have experience in a manager's role in a manufacturing environment as a human resource generalist. A keen understanding of the confidentiality of the position is essential to the success of the candidate. An ability to work well and communicate well with all levels of management as well as production employees is essential. A sensitivity for employee relations issues and an ability to discreetly sort through information to determine relevant facts are necessary when investigating employee related issues. Performs as a coach and mentor for the management group on employee related issues. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a strong desire to work in a team-oriented environment are necessary skills for a candidate.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
An ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or a related field with five to seven years experience in a generalist role, preferably in a manufacturing environment. A master's degree in a related field and Senior Professional in Human Resource (SPHR) certification is highly desirable. Proficient in Microsoft Office computer software applications.
