Job Description:
At US Foods, a Fleet Mechanic is vital for ensuring our fleet of
delivery vehicles is operating efficiently and safely, thereby
upholding our commitment to excellent service and reliability. As
an integral part of our logistics department, the Fleet Mechanic
will perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles
within our expansive distribution network. This position requires a
detailed understanding of mechanical systems, preventative
maintenance protocols, and adherence to safety standards, ensuring
our fleet is seamless and service-ready at all times. Perform
regular maintenance and emergency repairs on all vehicles in the
fleet. Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and
other defects ensuring compliance with all safety and operational
standards. Maintain detailed records of each vehicle's service
history. Work closely with logistics and dispatch teams to schedule
maintenance without compromising on service delivery. Stay
up-to-date with new technologies and practices in vehicle
maintenance to enhance workflow efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and stored correctly.
Assist in the management of inventory control for spare parts and
supplies. Proficient in the use of diagnostic equipment and tools
pertinent to vehicle maintenance. Strong understanding of diesel
engines, hydraulic, brake, and electrical systems. Ability to work
independently and handle physical demands of the job. Excellent
organizational and problem-solving skills. Effective communication
skills, both written and verbal. Medical Insurance Dental Insurance
Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Valid ASE (Automotive Service
Excellence) certifications strongly preferred. CDL (Commercial
Driver’s License) or the ability to obtain within 6 months of
employment. Safety and environmental training in the automotive
sector.
