Job Summary Columbus State University invites outstanding candidates to apply for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Public Health and Program Coordinator of the Master's in Public Health Program. The Master's in Public Health Program with a Maternal and Child Health concentration is being implemented in January 2021. This is a nine-month, tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences in the College of Education and Health Professions. Currently, the undergraduate Health Science program enrolls approximately 265 students. Special Applicant Instructions Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position has been filled. Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements, in particular a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline. Responsibilities Responsibilities include: coordinating the Master's of Public Health (MPH) program; teaching graduate public health courses (e.g. International Family Health Programs, Rural Health Issues); developing and maintaining an active scholarly agenda; and performing service and administrative tasks necessary to enhance program, departmental, college, and university goals and objectives. Coordinating the MPH program will include leading program evaluation reports, advising, and other duties as needed. Although the primary teaching responsibility will be in the MPH program, teaching in the undergraduate Health Science program will be assigned as needed. The successful candidate will be able to foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration, demonstrate exceptional ability to function as part of a team with university faculty and the community of practice, and engage in practices that support the University's focus on student engagement and active learning. Required Qualifications Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Public Health or related health field from a regionally accredited institution (ABD candidates considered); excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; and a successful record of scholarship (or demonstrated potential). Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants with successful experience teaching at the college level; record of scholarly publications in public health or related field; a record of professional experience in the field of public health (i.e. Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Maternal/Child Health, Health Equity, or Health Policy); knowledge of and experience with accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health; participation in relevant professional organizations; and CHES certification. Proposed Salary Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
